Serena Williams wins her 3rd French Open title

Serena Williams wins a 3rd French Open title and 20th Grand Slam trophy overall by defeating Lucie Safarova in a 3 set thriller last Saturday.

In what proved to be one of her toughest Grand Slam tournaments to date, Serena had to battle against fierce opponents as well as the flue which affected most of her 2nd week matches. As the true champion that she is, she managed to pull through to eventually win the title in Paris.

While receiving the winner's trophy, she congratulated - in French - her opponent as well as thanked the crowd and her team for their on-going support - she notably thanked her dad and her coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Serena will be moving onto the grass courts in the next few weeks, where she will be aiming for her 21st Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, which would put her on par with German tennis legend Steffi Graf.
